How spinout Entourage AI is transforming diagnostics and growing rapidly from the West of Scotland Science Park
Gaining an understanding of our health usually means relying on genetic testing or wearable tech like sports watches and trackers. While this can give us a rough indicator of health, we only know we’re sick when symptoms develop.
Entourage AI is changing that, by developing a more precise way of measuring health and working with clinical partners to predict outcomes.
Launched in 2025, the University of Glasgow spinout is now growing rapidly from its new Research & Operations centre at the West of Scotland Science Park.
Transforming early detection with proteins
Entourage AI’s mission is clear: to give people a more accurate picture of their health and, in doing so, empowering them to live healthier lives.
Chief Operating Officer Mark Bell explains: “Entourage AI is a company that uses plasma-based proteomics to understand people's health and to try and help people become healthier.”
Proteins lie at the heart of Entourage AI’s approach to diagnostics. Unlike genes, which remain constant through our lives, proteins are more dynamic. Analysing them gives us a detailed, real-time insight into our health.
“We take a non-invasive blood sample – about half a millilitre of blood – and then we process that into plasma. Then with cutting-edge mass spectrometers at the West of Scotland Science Park site, we analyse those and look at the thousands of biomarkers that exist in everyone’s blood.”
Looking at these biomarkers, the team can build a picture of a person’s health, including biological age, organ health and levels of inflammation, and detect diseases up to 10 years before symptoms appear.
From spinout to commercial launch in less than a year
Entourage’s growth has been rapid, driven by a strong scientific mission, commercial ambitions and access to funding and support from partners.
Founded by CEO Dr. Patrick T. Gunning, Professor of Molecular Therapeutics at the University of Glasgow, the spinout is among a small number of companies analysing proteins on a large scale outside an academic setting.
“Over the last five years, academic groups with access to these technologies have started publishing in this space. However, we are likely the only company in the UK and Europe focused on commercialising this approach.”
In March 2026, the spinout announced $5m (£3.7m) in seed funding, including from US-based Provision, University of Glasgow and healthtech investors David Peterson and Brad Peltz. This enabled the company to establish its Research & Operations facilities at the Park.
At the same time, the company announced it was accepting pre-orders for two commercial products: Aging Clock, which measures biological age, and Organ Health Analysis, which provides insight into organ health.
“The products are launching in August 2026, which will be a huge milestone for the company.”
The University of Glasgow, Scottish Enterprise and US lab equipment provider Thermo Fisher are also supporting the company.

Why the West of Scotland Science Park
In March 2026, the company joined the West of Scotland Science Park, which marked a major milestone in its journey to bringing its breakthrough science to market.
With Dr. Gunning’s strong academic ties to the region, the team knew they wanted to remain in Glasgow.
“We were aware Glasgow was building this world-class precision medicine district as part of the Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GRID). So that was pretty exciting to us.”
When it came to finding a home, the West of Scotland Science Park stood out as a natural fit.
“It’s close to the city and you can see the companies similar to ours that have expanded and been successful there.”
Large scale protein analysis is usually confined to academic environments. So the team were looking for a space with the infrastructure to support mass spectrometry – three (soon to be four) mass spectrometers, robotics and prep space for processing blood samples.
Working with developer Speyroc, they adapted a lab previously used for mass spectrometry, making the necessary changes to meet the company’s needs.
“Speyroc and the university have both been really helpful in helping us change the layout of the lab and make it fit for purpose.”
Premier League partnerships & new hires: what’s next for Entourage AI?
The company’s plan is to continue scaling “pretty rapidly” – and the next phase of growth is already underway.
They’ve fitted out the lab to make space for a fourth spectrometer and are eyeing new office space in the Park, as it looks to make new hires and expand lab capacity.
Entourage AI is also developing a new product analysing levels of inflammation, which can be used to understand how it impacts injury in athletes during training cycles.
“We are close to signing deals with two elite level football teams. And we're talking to NHL and NFL teams in America.”
The company is also exploring collaborations with wearable tech providers, where they can combine proteomic insights with the wealth of data these providers hold on customer health.
Long-term vision for improving health
With rigorous academic foundations, the company isn’t just looking to grow. It’s committed to the wider scientific project of discovering more about what proteomics can do and how humans age, with the goal to help people live healthier lives.
“I think that most people, if they could look at the last 10 years of their lives, would probably change how they lived.
“But I think we have the technology that can really help people with that. And I think that would be a massive achievement if you can help people lead a healthier life.”
